LocalSend
iPhone to Windows. Android to Mac. Moving a photo between "the wrong" devices is still weirdly hard. LocalSend fixes that for free.

What it does
LocalSend is a free, open-source app that sends files and text between devices on the same Wi-Fi or local network. Transfers go directly from one device to the other over an encrypted HTTPS connection, with no cloud upload, no third-party server and no internet connection needed.
5 key features
- Works across every major platform: Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS and Fire OS can all send to each other.
- No internet, no account: Devices find each other on your local network. Nothing is uploaded to a server and you never sign up.
- Encrypted transfers: Files travel over HTTPS between your devices.
- Files and messages: Send photos, videos and documents, or just paste a link or a bit of text to another device.
- Flexible installs: App stores, F-Droid, Winget, Homebrew, Flathub and more, plus a portable mode on desktop that keeps settings next to the app.
Who it is for
- Mixed-device households (iPhone + Windows, Android + Mac)
- Creators moving big video files from phone to editing PC
- Privacy-minded people who would rather not upload files to the cloud
- Anyone tired of emailing files to themselves
How to try it
Android 7.0+, iOS 13+, macOS 11 Big Sur+, Windows 10+, and Linux. Both devices must be on the same local network; some setups need port 53317 allowed in the firewall.
